Gallery Ehva
daring and beautiful art

. . . . . . .

Dear Friends,

Sorry, we're closed now.

I could not keep gallery open for more then one reason, but the biggest one was me. I did not feel I was strong (and smart) to contine. I needed rest: do nothing time, be closer to Earth, Sea, Sun, Sky, my cat Bikini and my dog Hana.

Do I miss it? Yes! I miss our dinners, painting Easter eggs, my freedom to do with our space whatever I wanted to do, I miss people, soup and bread openings... I miss our little "community".

Do I miss ART? Not now. I am fine having my hands dirty, working in my garden.

What I do now? Hmmm, little art, lots of cooking...

Who I am now? Rebel, definitely!

So, be well my friends and thank you for letting me love you. I know we'll see each other, sonner or later.

-- Yours, always, Ewa

Introducing David Paulson

Work by David Paulson

David Paulson, Walking Through Fire, 18 x 24, conte on paper, 2013

David was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1955. He is an alumnus of the Swain School of Design and the Parson's School of Design graduate program for painting. David L. Smith, a student of the German abstract artist Hans Hoffman in the 50's was a strong influence in David's artistic development. While at Parson's, Paulson studied with Leland Bell andPaul Resika, both of whom were themselves influenced by Hoffman's teachings.

During his fifteen years in New York City, Paulson made hundreds of visits to the great paintings housed in the city's museums. He engaged exclusively in figure painting from the studies of the paintings he saw at the museums and galleries.

Desiring a physical change from the ever changing campus of the city, he established his current studio in the Hudson Valley Region.

dialogue

Noun-wise, the interesting thing about dialogue is that it means "a conversation or exchange between two or more people," so it's not wrong to say something like "The council engaged in a long dialogue about the proposal." Avoid modifying it with certain adjectives, though—constructive dialogue and meaningful dialogue have, thanks mainly to political cant, become clichés that will glaze readers' eyes. Please also avoid using dialogue as a verb—ever. This is despite the facts that (1) Shakespeare occasionally used it as a verb, and (2) there are all sorts of other accepted verbalizations of nouns in English that work the same way; e.g., to diet is reduced from "to go on a diet," to trap from "to catch in a trap," and so on. Maybe in 30 years, to dialogue will be just as standard, but as of now it strikes most literate readers as affected and jargonish. Same with to transition; same with to parent; same with to reference; same with to gift. -- Dictionary on my Mac
